Throwback fashion trends that are here to stay in 2018

Hey Lovelies and Merry Christmas! We're getting closer and closer to kicking off the new year, which is still so unreal to me. And, with each year the current fashion trends worn are a revival of fashion pieces from the past. With clothing pieces and accessories from the 1950s straight through the early 2000s reemerging, these revivals are now current additions to our wardrobe. So, this a quick rundown on the few throwback fashion trends that are here to stay in 2018.

The 1950s: The Beret

This classic fashion piece of the fifties was revived in 2017. The Beret has quickly come back on the front line of fashion. And it's been a popular fall fashion statement piece worn by both girls and guys.

The 1960s: Checkered, Plaid and Gingham Print

The Checkered, Plaid and Gingham Print are classic sixties prints that became a huge trend this year. This print has resurfaced in many unique styles, of which have been inspired by classic sixties and seventies fashion silhouettes. From the straight-neck plaid mini dress to the plaid wide leg pants, these are prints and styles that are here to stay in 2018.

The 1970s: High Waist Bell Bottom Flare Pants (the Wide Leg Pants) and Platform Boots

Wide Leg Pants paired with Platform Boots are two fashion statement pieces of the past that have been brought back to popularity this year. These often paired fashion pieces are a simple way to elevate your look.

The 1980s: Moto Jacket and Fishnets

Although when thinking of the eighties, bold colors may come to mind. There was the rock aspect that brought to light fashion pieces we all adore, being Moto Jackets and Fishnets. These fashion pieces have been an ongoing trend that is here to stay in 2018. The current way we've started styling these classic eighties fashion pieces is through layering them. The layered style of fishnet tights under jeans has been a cute trend that will accompany us in 2018.

The 1990s: Denim and Slip Dresses

Denim and Slip Dresses are classic nineties fashion pieces that were the frontline of fashion in 2017. Denim on denim has become a huge style choice this year, as well as, the layered looks created with slip dresses. Personally, I loved styling outfits with these throwback clothing pieces and will continue to do so, in 2018.

The 2000s: Tracksuits and Chokers

Chokers definitely were revived in 2017. Since its revival, they now have come in a variety of cute styles. From the classic tattoo choker to the layered choker necklace sets and even denim chokers. This is a throwback fashion accessory that I've personally been loving and will continue to wear in 2018. As for tracksuits, these were on the frontline of fashion in the early 2000s. Tracksuits from brands like Adidas and Juicy Couture were the go-to fashion choice in the late nineties and early 2000s. These have all made their comeback in 2017, as brands like Adidas have risen to popularity.

Fashion Throwback Extras!

The 1920s: The Newsboy Cap

Also currently known as the "Baker Boy Hat" is a hat style that was worn in the early 1920s. The Newsboy Cap was popular in the 1920s among young men. Nevertheless, the style was revived in the early 2000s and became a popular statement piece among women. Currently, the known as the "Baker Boy Hat", it has stayed a popular hat style choice among women and fashion houses.

The 1990s: Oversized Sweaters

Oversized sweaters and turtlenecks are the fashion staples of the nineties! This is a throwback fashion trend that has become increasingly popular over the years and is here to stay. I love styling this classic nineties fashion piece by wearing an oversized sweater or turtleneck loosely tucked into a pair of high waist jeans. Additionally, I would add a belt to cinch in everything at the waist. Oversized sweaters can be styled many distinct ways and will continue to stay on the frontline of fashion.

Hope you enjoyed this rundown on the throwback fashion trends that are here to stay on the frontline of fashion in 2018.

4 ways to instantly elevate your holiday looks!

Hey Lovelies, today I'm going to let you in on a few tips to elevating your style for the holidays! These are quick things you can incorporate when styling and trying to getting ready for the holidays. So, whether you're getting ready for a holiday party, spending time with your girls or just trying to look cute at home with family. These are some of the quick tips to get you looking extra cute in your outfits this holiday season!

1. The Right Fit.

It's important that when you're picking out clothing pieces to wear, that they fit you right. Find clothing items that fit your body right, looks great and makes you feel comfortable and confident. You can also get things tailored to fit you to your liking. A simple and inexpensive way to elevate your look and find the right fit with looser clothing is by wearing a belt or sash. You can tie a belt or sash around the waist to really cinch in the loose fabric and make your top look and more fitting.

2. Elevate your basics.

To elevate your basic clothing pieces, style them with a trendy statement piece or accessorize. A trendy or statement clothing piece paired with basics takes a look to a whole new level. Find a cute statement piece to style with a basic clothing item for your holiday look. The current favorite statement pieces I've been loving the look of are the straight neck plaid mini dresses or slip dresses. Those statement pieces look cute when worn with a basic top or turtleneck underneath.

Alternatively, you can wear a simple clothing piece but, accessorizing the right way can elevate your holiday look. Simple looks are elevated when you accessorize the right way. So, wearing some cute studs, a bracelet and/or necklace and the right pair of footwear can elevate a simple dress you might plan on wearing. You can also try styling your holiday outfit with a scarf, handbag or a cute hat and see what you like best.

Added Tip: Swap out your flats for heels. Sorry for all the flats lovers, but depending on your holiday outfit heels instantly dress up your look a lot more. Plus, this is such a great way to instantly elevate your look and make you look poised and chic.

3. Try on different clothing items and layer your pieces.

Get creative and be your own stylist! Fashion is both fun and experimental, so definitely try to see if you can wear an item in a different way. Mix and match different clothing items to do this.  This will allow you to see what holiday looks you liked best and gives you multiple outfit ideas for all the holiday festivities.

4. Smile and wear your look with confidence.

Smiling and exuding confidence when wearing your holiday look is the best way elevate your holiday look. Wear a look that you love and that you're comfortable and confident in. A smile and confidence are the best (And free!) accessories to any outfit. So strut your stuff and serve all looks this holiday season with confidence.

I want to see you all serving love and looks this holiday season, so I hope you enjoyed these quick tips to help you elevate your style for the holiday season!

Christmas Moodboards

Hey Lovelies, what better way to start off the holidays than with Christmas decor! When decorating your home or anywhere for the holidays it's best to have a theme and some inspiration. I happen to grab the best inspiration when I create mood boards! They're such a great way to compile photos that inspire you and form a theme on a visual mood board, whether it's a physical mood board or a digital one. Sites, like Pinterest and WeHeartIt, allow you to create digital mood boards with beautiful photos from around the web.

I love photography but, the photos below are not mine and are from Pinterest and WeHeartIt, but I've compiled these photos I've found to make my very own digital mood board for inspiration. As the holiday season progresses I definitely plan to take a lot of my own Christmas-sy shots to show you all. Either way, you can also turn this digital mood board into a physical one, simply by printing out the mood board images below and sticking them onto a physical mood board of your own. Along the way, you can also add more visuals you'd like onto your physical mood board.

The mood boards I put together are holiday-themed, and I hope the different visuals gave you some inspiration for your holiday theme and/or decor.

Build your winter wardrobe with basics

Hey Lovelies, winter is well on its way and also comes with a change in wardrobe. Sweaters, thigh high boots, cardigans, denim jackets, and more, but most importantly...layering, layering, and more layering. When it comes to building your winter wardrobe, it's best to start by incorporating basic and classic pieces into your wardrobe. So, let's get into how to build your winter wardrobe with basics.

1. Start off with an over-sized sweater or turtleneck.

The most basic clothing piece that everyone should start off with their winter wardrobe is an over-sized sweater or turtleneck. It's such a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe, as you can create several layered looks with a sweater or turtleneck.

2. Go for neutrals.

Basic neutral clothing pieces can be paired with anything when creating an outfit. When building your winter wardrobe start with the neutral clothing pieces you may currently have in your wardrobe.  You can continue building from there by purchasing basic inexpensive clothing pieces in black, white, tan, brown and gray. Additionally, footwear in neutral colors also brings a look together.

3. Classic pieces to have in your winter wardrobe.

These are few of the classic pieces that you could include in your perfect winter wardrobe for creating multiple layered winter looks.

 - Crew neck sweaters/sweatshirts
- Cardigans
- A-line Skirt (with tights)
- Basic Neutral Tops and Tees
- Turtleneck or mock neck sweaters
- Blue Jeans
- Black Jeans
- Fashion joggers
- White Collared shirt
- Bold/Printed Collard shirt
- Dainty everyday jewelry
- Denim jacket
- Trenchcoat
- Faux fur coat or Parka coat
- Leather moto jacket
-The Little Black Dress

4. Make sure everything is tailored to your liking.

You don't have to spend much money on basics, but make sure that the basic pieces are of good quality and fit your style and body right. When clothing fits your body right and is of good quality, you can end up creating a look that fits you perfectly.

5. Trendy pieces to have in your winter wardrobe.

Now, with every new year comes new trends people follow. And this is especially true when it comes to seasonal trends. However, it's unnecessary to follow every single fashion trend because that doesn't help you build a winter wardrobe tailored to your personal style. Grab a couple of trends you like and pair them with basic clothing pieces. From there, style the clothing pieces to your personal style. These are a few of the trendy or statement pieces that you could choose to incorporate into your winter wardrobe.

- Graphic t-shirt
-Leather moto jacket
-Faux fur coat
-Trenchcoat
-Oversized denim jacket

- Black sunglasses

- Cheetah print faux fur coat

- Striped collard shirt
- Courdoroy button front skirt
- Plaid skirt
- Oversized infinity scarf
- Plaid mini dress
- Courdoroy pants
- Plaid pants
- Denim skirt
- Color Block Windbreaker

6. Winter fashion layering inspiration

The key to cute layered winter looks is when it's done to your personal style but can also keep you warm during the winter. For example, you may love wearing skirts, but you can keep it winter friendly by wearing tights underneath. Winter fashion layering can be as simple as pairing an oversized sweater with an infinity scarf and wearing a pair of jeans and boots.

Tip: Wear a tank top (or two) underneath clothing for extra warmth. Also, wearing a pair of tights under jeans is great for extra warmth during the winter.

You can grab inspiration from anywhere (like Pinterest, Magazines, Instagram and so forth.) to figure out how to layer with your style for winter. Check out a few of my Pinterest boards by clicking the links below for some winter fashion layering inspiration!

Aesthetic Friendsgiving Ideas

Hey Lovelies, the holiday season has officially begun and I'm super excited about all the festivities to come. Thanksgiving is in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to spend that time with family and pig out on all the food, hunty. Aside from spending the holidays with family, Friendsgiving is a great way to kick it with your squad during the holiday season!

Now, you can kick it with your squad in style, for a fun and aesthetic Friendsgiving. These are four theme and decor ideas for inspiration to style your next Friendsgiving dinner party. Not only will you enjoy amazing food while, having a great time with your friends, but now you will have a cute setting to take some aesthetic photos in.

Bohemian Backyard Friendsgiving

This boho theme can also be styled indoors but is brought to fuller effect in your backyard. You can style a bohemian themed backyard and dinner table using key decor to bring your backyard to life. String lights hung throughout the backyard and throw blankets on top of the chairs are a great way to start decorating your backyard with the theme. Decorate the dinner table by using cute decorative pumpkins, candles, and floral centerpieces and placing them however you'd like in the center of the table.

You can also set up a hangout spot in your backyard, and this could be the spot to take cute pictures in. To set up the hangout spot, start by hanging up a tapestry. Then place a large rug (or a few small ones) on the ground and then place a bunch of different throw pillows and blankets on top of the rug. You can go even further with this theme by hanging up a few dream catchers or a string of polaroids throughout your backyard, or at the hangout area.

Key Decor

Rug
Candles
Tapestries
String lights
String of Polaroids
Decorative Pumpkins
Throw Blankets and Pillows
Decorative Floral Center Pieces

Hollywood Chic Friendsgiving Dinner Party

This is much more of a classic chic theme, and you could possibly bring in Old Hollywood glamour vibes within this theme as well. The key thing about this theme is a majority of the decor is in black, white and/or gold. White string lights hung around the room and black and/or white throw blankets hung over chairs is a great way to start decorating with this theme. To decorate the table, place decorative black, white and/or gold pumpkins and a white floral centerpiece(s) however you'd like within the center.

Old Hollywood glamour vibes could be brought into this theme simply by playing jazz music in the background while you feast and spend time with your girls. This is a Friendsgiving dinner theme that can be styled indoors and is the perfect theme to use if you love a black and white aesthetic.

Key Decor

White string lights
White floral centerpieces
Black and/or white throw blankets
Decorative black, white and gold pumpkins
Inexpensive decorative black and white table settings

Murder Mystery Friendsgiving Dinner

This is a fun theme to style and put together for mystery lovers. Plus, you can get great pictures of everyone dressed up to the theme. Key decor for this theme would be table candles, white and red floral centerpieces and decorative pumpkins placed at the center of the table to your liking. Also, incorporating a couple of inexpensive decorative red and black table settings would be a nice touch for decorating the dinner table. Lastly, create name cards for each guest where one side of the card displays the persons' name and the role you'd like them to play. However, the other side of the card will say if each person is either innocent or guilty and this side of the card will be the one facing down on the dinner table (The side with their name and role should be flat on the table facing up.).

A cute way to thank guests for playing along with the whole idea is by giving them these gift bags (shown below) designed as packaged crime evidence with whatever goodies you'd like. The gift bags are a great do-it-yourself project you could try on your own using inexpensive brown gift bags and placing a copy of each guest styled name card on the front of the gift bag.

The key idea is setting the Murder Mystery dinner party in an era of your choosing. Then, you would have your friends come dressed up to fit the era, have dinner and later solve the "mystery." A "mystery" you would have put together to be solved and have everyone improvise from there to solve.

For example, let's say you had set your Murder Mystery themed party in the 1920s. You would decorate to fit that era with the murder mystery theme in mind, and all your guests would come dressed to fit the theme. You would also be the one to create the "Murder Mystery" to be solved, place fake "evidence" and clues around your house (obviously in places where you're okay with your guests entering) and assign your guests characters to improvise. For example, after dinner, you then announce the mysterious death and disappearance of some flapper and continue on with a backstory.  Your guests would then improvise based on what you had told them and their given roles. Then, they would try solving the mystery you put together based on the fake evidence and clues you would have placed around the house.

Key Decor

Table candles
White and/or red floral centerpieces
Decorative black and white pumpkins
Inexpensive decorative red and black table settings
DIY name cards with each person's name and role in the murder mystery

Girly and Vintage Friendsgiving

This girly and vintage Friendsgiving theme is the perfect indoor Friendsgiving dinner theme for you and your girls if you're feeling the girly vintage idea. This is such a cute look for a girly vintage aesthetic and is a theme that's pretty simple to put together for your Friendsgiving. Once again, string lights are a great thing to hang around the room. An additional cute touch would be to add a string of polaroids around the room as well.

Decorate the table by placing decorative white and gold pumpkins, white and pink floral centerpieces and frosted white pinecones within the center of the table to your liking. You can also paint regular pinecones white and wait for them to dry off before placing them as little accent decor in the center of the table. As an added touch, try taking a couple of white and/or pink throw blankets and place them on the chairs. This is a Friendsgiving dinner theme that can be styled indoors and is the perfect theme to use if you love a girly vintage aesthetic.

Key Decor

Frosted White Pinecones
String lights and/or table candles
White and/or pink throw blankets
White and pink floral centerpieces
Decorative white and gold pumpkins
Inexpensive decorative white and pink table settings

Hope these ideas gave you some inspiration for your Friendsgiving party, so you can kick it with your squad in style, for a fun and aesthetic Friendsgiving.
