Casual but chic ways to rock a T-Shirt Dress

Recently, I've been loving the whole idea of t-shirt dresses. They are such simple and cute pieces to throw on and create a look with. T-shirt dresses are pretty much a must-have this season, and I am here to let you in on several ways to turn your look from casual to chic in a matter of minutes, T-shirt dress style!

Statement Stripes

This is a look I curated around this ultra chic Holly Fulton Ladies T-Shirt Dress. This season is calling for statement stripes and red, which are the design elements that were implemented within this t-shirt dress. Not to mention the black and white graphics that add a very nice contrast to the red. This very t-shirt dress is a comfortable but casual way to still look chic. I had paired this dress with black minimal accessories as well as these Gucci cream colored Princetown slippers. However, to keep it casual and still look chic at a reasonable price (cause let's keep it real not everyone has Gucci money), you can swap out the slippers for white slip on sneakers.

Denim and Summer Brights

Denim has been an ongoing trend this year, and it is certainly being used to serve looks this season. However, denim paired with summer brights will bring your look to a whole new level. This look I put together is focused around this French Connection Dina Denim T-Shirt Dress that is casual but, still cute. This denim t-shirt dress was paired with caramel colored accessories from the wedges to the sunglasses. I brought in a slight pop of color with the tassel cross-body bag, hence the summer brights brought into the look in order to bring in some color. In order to go a bit more bold with color, you can swap out the caramel tassel bag for something brighter, like a bag in yellow, red or even pink. For those girls that'd like to be a bit more casual, but still look chic, you can pair this denim dress with slip on sneakers, slippers or flats and match the shoe of choice to the color of the bag of choice. For example, pairing together a yellow cross-body bag and yellow flat sandals or you could go with red slip on shoes and a mini red backpack to go with this denim t-shirt dress.

At the end of the day, just grab that statement piece and make it yours. Curate the look to your style and just keep serving looks.

How my blog started

I started my blog in mid-January of 2017 in terms of design and such, but officially "launched" and wrote my very first blog post on the 31st of January 2017 and continued on writing from there. To be honest, I first started watching YouTubers and really liked that idea for a while, up until I started watching Zoella (Zoe Sugg) back when she was zoella280390, hahaha. She is such an inspiration to me, bright, kind-hearted and loving and she is also someone who is both a YouTuber and a blogger. This was basically my first introduction into the blogging community, as zoella.co.uk was pretty much one of the very first blogs I read and still read to this day.

From there I continued reading other blogs too and I just knew it was something I wanted to do. It took months to nearly a year of research and tons of self-convincing because my biggest obstacle was honestly myself and fear of what others would think. It took awhile, but I tried hard to block out that fear and just go for it (Also a big thanks to my lovely little sis for pushing me to do this too.) Once I finally decided to go for it, a whole wave of ideas for my very own blog came to me from the name, to the content to the visuals. That's when I started designing a bit and trying to find my niche for the blog....and my baby themisskouture was born (figuratively speaking of course!)

Some of you might be wondering, why themisskouture? Well...the only reason I have for ya is that it sounded real boujee in my mind, and the "c" in couture was replaced with a "k" instead for the "k" in my first name. It's something that I like to use across a majority of platforms because of the fact that it's a short and sweet spin on my name, Kelly, which is a name that is pretty basic...so yeah, we're going with misskouture (kelly.madu on my personal insta! - that self promo though...)

Either way, my niche as you can see for the most part is everything and anything fashion and lifestyle. However, from time to time I am putting up a Girl Talk post which will now officially be a monthly post where we talk about anything (fashion, fun, gossip, entertainment/media, advice and all.) All in all, I have grown to love the whole blogging process and never think to look back. The community is amazing and I've received such a positive response and support from people that know me and even new faces, which is beyond amazing.

My advice to new blogger babes

Loves, I am going to keep this short and sweet because let's get real...I am fairly new and still learning, but I am going to give you a bit of advice based on what I have learned.

Find your niche and pick the right platform. It's so important to know what you want to blog about whether it's fashion, health, beauty, or sports...etc. This is so readers know exactly what to expect each time they come to check out your blog and it also attracts the right readers to your blog. Finding your niche also ensures unity as to what you're writing about and makes writing easier for you because it is a general point of interest for you. Also, a niche is a general idea for your blog, meaning there are tons of sports blogs, fashion blogs, and beauty blogs out there. Put a unique twist on your own fashion, beauty or sports blog...etc. to really make it your own and set it apart from all the other blogs with the same idea.
Secondly, is picking the right platform. You can do this by testing out different platforms from Blogger to Squarespace to Wordpress or Weebly and figuring out which one fits your blog better. After you've picked a platform, you can begin the designing and writing process in order to really take your blog to new heights. I and a lot of other people like great visuals and design aesthetic on a blog, it looks visually appealing and professional, which you want because you never know who could stumble upon your blog.

My nominations

I really like the content these gals put out, whether it's through pictures, words or both. Now, for the 15 beautiful blogger babes that I chose to nominate:

If I have nominated you, create your own blog post and follow the rules. Thanks so much for reading loves! Until next time.
